สถาบันเกอเธ่ ประเทศไทยร่วมกับหอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร สยามเซ็นเตอร์และ ESIC Lab มหาวิทยาลัยพระจอมเกล้าธนบุรี โดยความร่วมมือจาก Connecting Cities จัดนิทรรศการศิลปะสื่อผสมสมัยใหม่ในหัวข้อ LIVE THE CITY: URBAN MEDIA PROJECT ตั้งแต่วันที่ 7-28 มิถุนายน 2559 ณ ใจกลางกรุงเทพ (เข้าชมฟรี)
LIVE THE CITY เป็นนิทรรศการที่มุ่งค้นหาแนวทางการหลอมรวมศิลปะดิจิตอลเข้ากับบริบทเมืองใหญ่ พร้อมหาคำตอบว่าศิลปะดิจิตอลในบริบทเมืองส่งผลอย่างไรต่อการสร้างเมือง เครือข่ายผู้คนและสร้างพื้นที่สำหรับนำเสนอวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีต่างๆ อย่างไรบ้าง
เป้าหมายของโครงการนี้คือการใช้สื่อใจกลางเมืองเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับร่วมสร้างสรรค์และวางแนวทางให้กับชีวิตผู้คนในเมืองดิจิตอลของเรา ซึ่งจะแตกต่างกับการใช้ในทางธุรกิจอย่างสิ้นเชิง รูปแบบการมีส่วนร่วมและการสร้างพื้นที่ดิจิตอลที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นใหม่นี้มีลักษณะอย่างไร คือคำถามที่เราต้องยกขึ้นมาอย่างเร่งด่วนโดยเฉพาะในกรุงเทพ ที่ซึ่งโครงสร้างพื้นฐานของสื่อขยายตัวอย่างรวดเร็วและพื้นที่โฆษณาดิจิตอลแบบถาวรส่งอิทธิพลต่อประสบการณ์การใช้ชีวิตในเมืองมากขึ้นทุกขณะ
นิทรรศการจะจัดแสดงโดยแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ส่วน ได้แก่ PLASTIC PARTITIONS โดย Jun Ong จัดแสดงที่สยามเซ็นเตอร์ ซึ่งเป็นการนำเสนอ “Plastic Partitions” หรือฉากกั้นพลาสติกที่แสดงคำถามสู่สาธารณะให้ผู้เข้าชมสามารถตั้งคำถามและแสดงความคิดเห็นได้ผ่านการกดปุ่มแสงสังเคราะห์ เสมือนเป็นกระดานความเห็นในรูปแบบงานศิลปะสื่อผสมใจกลางเมือง
สำหรับนิทรรศการอีกส่วนที่จัดแสดงภายใต้ชื่อ HIDDEN SOUND OF BANGKOK (เสียงที่ซ่อนเร้นของกรุงเทพฯ) โดยนิธิพัฒน์ หอยสังข์ทอง จัดแสดงภายในตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ที่ตั้งอยู่บริเวณด้านหน้าหอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร ผลงานชิ้นนี้มุ่งเชิญชวนให้ผู้เข้าชมสัมผัสและแลกเปลี่ยนกับน้ำผ่านแสงและเสียง เสียงและการเคลื่อนไหวของผู้ชมจะกระตุ้นเซ็นซอร์อินฟาเรดแล้วทำให้กราฟฟิคอีควอไลเซอร์ในจุดต่างๆ สร้างจังหวะและภาพที่แตกต่างและเหลื่อมล้ำกันตามการเคลื่อนไหว
ส่วนที่สามของนิทรรศการนำเสนอผลงาน TALES OF A TREE (เรื่องเล่าของต้นไม้) โดยเอกภพ สุขสุดไพศาล จัดแสดงที่สวนด้านหน้า สถาบันเกอเธ่ ประเทศไทย เป็นโครงการจัดวางสื่อ-ศิลป์แบบอินเตอร์แอคทีฟ โดยใช้ต้นไม้เป็นผู้แปลข้อความและแสดงออกมาเป็นแสงเพื่อเป็นตัวแทนในการสื่อสารระหว่างเมืองและผู้คน
ผู้สนใจสามารถเข้าชมนิทรรศการได้ตั้งแต่วันที่ 7 – 28 มิถุนายน 2559 โดยไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่าย นิทรรศการทั้งหมดจะจัดแสดงพร้อมคำบรรยายภาษาอังกฤษและภาษาไทย

Goethe-Institut Thailand together with Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Siam Center and the ESIC Lab of King Mongkut’s University of Technology in cooperation with Connecting Cities will hold the mixed media art exhibition “LIVE THE CITY: URBAN MEDIA PROJECT” located in the heart of Bangkok from 7-28 June 2016. (Free Admission)
LIVE THE CITY is the mixed media art exhibition that explores how to embed digital art in the urban context and how urban digital art contributes to shaping neighborhoods, networking citizens and creating platforms for visualizing science and technologies.
In opposition to the commercial use of these urban media, the goal of the project is to establish them as platforms for co-creating and shaping the human futures of our digital cities. What are new emerging forms of participation and digital place making?
We see an urgency to pose such questions, especially in Bangkok where a massive growth of media infrastructures and permanent digital advertisements are increasingly defining the urban experience. The project addresses a critical view towards the use of media in the context of the city.
The exhibition is divided in three parts: PLASTIC PARTITIONS by Jun Ong at Siam Center is the installation that uses artificial light on plastic partitions to cast an opinion, simultaneously collect information and express mood. It aims to create an autonomous space, a physical forum in a public domain where the expression of each voice can be celebrated, as an individual and as a collective.
THE HIDDEN SOUND OF BANGKOK by Nithiphat Hoisangthong is shown in a shipping container in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. This project seeks to raise awareness of environmental issues by bringing sources of water in the city into the consciousness of the public through multimedia installations. Spectator’s sounds will activate graphic equalizers in various spots, which produce different and overlapping beats according to the movements of the spectator and timing of infrared sensors.
TALES OF A TREE by Ekapob Suksudpaisarn and his team is an interactive urban media-art installation using trees in the front garden of the Goethe-Institut Thailand. The artists use trees as a medium for communication – for the city to communicate with its inhabitants, for the city to tell its stories. Trees then become translators for the city that they reside in.
LIVE THE CITY will be shown from 7-28 June 2016 free of charge. All exhibitions will be in Thai and English.
