การสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะของ สมบูรณ์ หอมเทียนทอง ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่การสร้างศิลปวัตถุที่ดูสวยงามทางสายตาเท่านั้นแต่กระบวนการทางศิลปะของเขาคือการเปลี่ยนเรื่องราว หรือสภาวะพลังงานบางประการที่เขามีประสบการณ์ร่วมให้อยู่ในภาพลักษณ์ใหม่ โดยผลงานทั้งหมดนั้นล้วนผ่านการใช้เวลาพิจารณา ทบทวน กลั่นกรองอย่างเนิ่นนานตามแบบฉบับศิลปินที่ใจเย็น จนกระทั่งตกเป็นผลึกทางความคิดอยู่ในรูปของงานจิตรกรรมนามธรรมที่ไม่ต้องการการตั้งชื่อ
และตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2551 จนถึงปัจจุบัน สมบูรณ์ใช้เวลาในสตูดิโอริมแม่น้ำโขงของเขา สร้างสรรค์ภาพจิตรกรรมมากมายที่เต็มอิ่มด้วยเรื่องของเส้น สี และจังหวะขององค์ประกอบ ซึ่งพร้อมจะส่งสารทางความรู้สึกได้อย่างหลากหลาย โดยผลงานที่นำมาจัดแสดงที่นำทองแกลเลอรีครั้งนี้ สมบูรณ์ หอมเทียนทอง คัดสรรมาด้วยจิตที่ผูกพันกับ ‘เส้น’ และ ‘พลังงานความสงบนิ่ง’ ซึ่งถูกขัดเกลาให้เฉียบแหลมด้วยความรู้และรสนิยมสุนทรีย์ทางศิลปะ ที่สั่งสมจากการศึกษาศิลปะชั้นสูงที่ประเทศเยอรมนี ร่วมกับประสบการณ์ชีวิตและวิถีของศิลปินที่เขากลับมาสานต่อในประเทศไทย

The creation of art for Somboon Hormtientong is not only creating visually beautiful objects. His art creation process is a transformation of some stories or forms of energy he has common experiences into new images whereby the outcomes have gone through times of contemplation, revision, and pondering by the patient artist until ideas are crystallised in forms of abstract paintings no need to be titled.
From 2008, Somboon has spent time in his studio by the Mekong river creating many paintings filled with lines, colours, and rhythms of composition; his works ready to communicate many feelings. For this collection to be exhibited at Numthong Gallery, Somboon Hormtientong selected them with his mind binding with lines and the energy of calmness; shaped by artistic knowledge and aesthetic taste he has garnered through his study of high arts in Germany together with life experiences and artist path he has maintained after returning to Thailand.
