หนังสือสร้างความสนุก และปาร์ตี้ก็เช่นกัน เมื่อทั้งสองมาเข้าคู่กันความน่าสนใจจึงเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นสองเท่า สถาบันเกอเธ่ ประเทศไทย ร่วมกับ สำนักพิมพ์ สมมติ เว็บไซต์ด้านวรรณกรรม The Paperless และเดโมเครซี่ เธียเตอร์ สตูดิโอ ขอเชิญทุกท่านร่วมงานปาร์ตี้หนังสือครั้งแรกของปีนี้ ในวันเสาร์ที่ 26 พ.ค. 61 โดยไฮไลต์ของงานอยู่ที่การพูดคุยเกี่ยวกับงานแปลฉบับภาษาไทย “มาริโอกับนักมายากล“ หนึ่งในผลงานวรรณกรรมชิ้นเอกของนักเขียนชาวเยอรมันรางวัลโนเบล โธมัส มันน์ (ค.ศ. 1875-1955)
ในครั้งนี้เรามี “นักมายากล“ ที่จะมาต้อนรับทุกท่านกับ “โชว์มายากล” – การแสดงร่วมสมัยที่ผู้กำกับและนักออกแบบการแสดง ธนพล วิรุฬหกุล (เดโมเครซี่ เธียเตอร์) ได้ตีความและสร้างมาจากหนังสือเล่มนี้ ร่วมกับนักแสดง James Laver และพีรพล กิจรื่นภิรมย์สุข ก่อนนำเข้าสู่การพูดคุยเกี่ยวกับหนังสือกับ ดร. อารตี แก้วสัมฤทธิ์ และ ดร.ภาณุ ตรัยเวช
ดร. อารตี แก้วสัมฤทธิ์ ศึกษาด้านวรรณกรรมเยอรมัน โดยเฉพาะงานเขียนของโธมัส มันน์ จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกในปี พ.ศ. 2550 จากมหาวิทยาลัย Siegen ด้วยวิทยานิพนธ์ในหัวข้อ “ภาพของเอเซียในงานเขียนของโธมัส มันน์” ใน พ.ศ. 2552 หนังสือแปลเรื่อง “มาริโอและนักมายากล” ได้ตีพิมพ์กับสำนักพิมพ์สมมติ
ปัจจุบัน ดร. อารตี แก้วสัมฤทธิ์ เป็นอาจารย์ประจำสาขาภาษาเยอรมัน จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ดร. ภาณุ ตรัยเวช อาจารย์คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ด้วยความสนใจด้านวรรณกรรม งานเขียน และประวัติศาสตร์ ทำให้ดร.ภาณุยังเป็นที่รู้จักในฐานะนักแปลและนักเขียน หนึ่งในผลงานที่นักอ่านรู้จักเป็นอย่างดี คือ หนังสือเกี่ยวกับสาธารณรัฐไวมาร์

Book Party #1: Mario and the Magician
Books are fun and so are parties. And a combination of both is simply double the fun!
On May 26, the Goethe-Institut Thailand is throwing its very first book party! Our partners in this event are the publishing house Sommadhi, the literature website The Paperless and the Democrazy Theatre Studio. Central to this event is a discussion based on the Thai translation of “Mario and the Magician” by Thomas Mann (1875-1955). This novella is one of the masterpieces of the German Nobel prize-winner.
As is fitting for the occasion, a “magician” will be there to greet you. Inspired by our selected book, Democrazy Theatre choreographer Thanapol Virulhakul and actors James Laver and Peerapol Kijreunpirumsuk have together created a magic show to open the event.
We have invited two guests to take part in the book discussion:
Our translator, Dr. Aratee Kaewsumrit, studied German literature, specializing in the work of Thomas Mann. She was awarded a PhD at the University of Siegen in 2007. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled “Asia and the Asian Motif in the work of Thomas Mann”. Her translation of “Mario and the Magician” was published by Sommadhi in 2009. Dr. Aratee teaches in the German department of Chulalongkorn University.
Our second guest, Dr. Panu Trivej, teaches natural sciences at Kasetsart University. He is passionate about literature, writing and history and is a well known translator and author. One of his most successful books was about the Weimar Republic.
The discussion will be in Thai and presented by actress and guest lecturer for dramatic art, Pattarasuda Anuman Rajadhon.
